Studied this Security+ Study Guide for 2 Months and Passed
I purchased this book to prepare for the exam. I did not use any other books or take any other prep courses. I took my time with it, studying it in depth for about two months. I passed the exam with flying colors. An excellent resource for the test, and from my personal experience no other study/prep materials are needed if you go through it thoroughly. Great value for the price as well.
Most people can pass the Security+ exam within 45 days after getting this Security+ Study Guide.
Some people even sooner. Get started now.
Studied this Security+ Study Guide for a Month and Scored 841!
I was nervous about testing for this because I hate the whole idea of testing in the first place. But I decided it was necessary for my future. I got this book and studied like crazy for one month. I also got the kindle version of Darril’s test questions and went through them about a dozen times. I used his online questions too. After all my preparation, I take the test and score 841 of 900!!
Passed with 3 Weeks of Study
Well written. After 3 weeks of study I passed with an 816.
Studied this Security+ Study Guide for 2 Weeks and Passed
I give this book 5 stars because it helped me a lot when I was studying for my security+, I read a chapter and a half day for two weeks, took my test and passed. This book was very easy to understand in my opinion and I would recommend to anyone.
Security+ Study Guide is CAQC Certified
After a comprehensive review by ProCert Labs, the Security+ Study Guide has been certified as CompTIA Approved Quality Content (CAQC) and covers every aspect of the SY0-401 exam.
Each of the eleven chapters presents topics in an easy to understand manner and includes real-world examples of security principles in action.
I’ve included many of the same analogies and explanations that I honed in the classroom, to help students master the Security+ content. They can help you too.
But don’t take my word for it. Here are some comments from Amazon reviewers on this Security+ Study Guide.
Studied this Security+ Study Guide for 9 Days & Scored 841
This Book is simply amazing. It does an incredible job of explaining the concepts and gives real world examples of security principles so you get a better idea of what you’re dealing with. Personally, I was required to take this for my job, and was only given 9 days to study. I am happy to report that I managed to score an 841.

Read this Security+ Study Guide in 3 Days and Passed
Excellent book for the material, especially those preparing for the Security + test. The information is provided in a clear and concise fashion that highlights aspects of the text that need to be remembered for the test. If you are familiar with general computer security practices this is a quick read that fills in the gaps to give you a solid foundation to take the exam. Individuals who are new to the IT security world will be able to learn everything required for the exam spending a little more time re-reading certain chapters to not just memorize but learn the information presented. Bottom line I read this in three days, took the exam and passed with an 885.
Most People Take & Pass the Exam within 45 Days
I couldn’t read this book in three days so I’m really impressed that someone can.
More, I’m very grateful that this is exactly what this person needed to pass the Security+ exam the first time.
More commonly, people take and pass the exam within 45 days of regular studying after getting this Security+ study guide.
In response to many requests, I created this day-by-day study guide that anyone can use as a road map to get the Security+ certification.
This assumes you have the recommended experience. Without the recommended experience, it will likely take you a little longer. Thankfully, (except for bragging rights), no one cares how long it takes you to pass. They only care if you have the certification.
Read it Cover to Cover (almost) & Passed with Flying Colors
Great book. I read it cover to cover (okay, I skipped the index and the acronyms section, but everything else!), studied the rote memorization parts like port numbers, took all his practice tests twice, and passed the CompTIA exam with flying colors…. He writes well, includes practical examples and stories from “the real world”, and covers all the material you’ll need to know. It also includes a discount for the exam that’s almost as much as the book, so if you don’t have access to another discount then this is effectively a free way to study for your cert.
