Success Principles
I’ve been learning from Jack Canfield (of Chicken Soup for the Soul fame) since 2008. Following Jack’s teachings, I’ve enjoyed many successes in my life including starting a career as a writer and authoring or co-authoring more than 40 books that have helped tens of thousands of people get certified and get ahead in their careers. I credit much of my success to applying principles that he teaches in my life. I’m going through his book “The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be” again, covering one principle a week. When inspired, I’ll create a post for the principle.

Hi Mr. Gibson,
I’m reading your study guide Network+ (N10-006) in Kindle version, I wonder if you publish in book version.
Thank you very much
Yes, as long as you’re referring to the practice test questions book. You can see it here: CompTIA Network+ N10-006 Practice Test Questions (Get Certified Get Ahead)
1) Would you happen to know when the current Network+ (N10-005) exam will be retired?
Perhaps late 2015 to mid 2016. CompTIA has not officially announced the release of the N10-006 exam and when they do, they will keep the N10-005 live for at least six months later (often longer) .
2) In your professional opinion, if the current exam is being retired soon, should I wait?
No. Unless you want to delay your career. There is always a new one coming and if you’re always waiting for the new one, you’re never getting a certification. If you want it, do it now. Carpe certum! Seize the certification! Now!
Will it make a difference to employers whether I get the N10-005 or the newer N10-006?
No. Hiring managers don’t care what version of a certification you have. They only care if you have it.
Good luck.
Hi Darril,
I had planned on taking the current Network+ exam (N10-005) by the end of January 2015, since I should be more than ready by then. However, I suspect the current exam will be getting retired very soon, so I may wait for the newer one instead.
For my two questions:
1) Would you happen to know when the current Network+ (N10-005) exam will be retired?
2) In your professional opinion, if the current exam is being retired soon, should I wait? Will it make a difference to employers whether I get the N10-005 or the newer N10-006?
Thanks,
Trissa
Hey….
I passed my Network+ exam with a 754! I will now start preparing for the Security+ exam. I just purchased your Security+ book and I can’t wait to get started. Thank you so much!
Congratulations on the pass William. Good luck with the Security+ exam. Extra resources are available here:
http://gcgapremium.com/security/pass-the-security-exam-the-first-time-you-take-it/
I am very happy to say that I took the Security + this morning and made an 862 on it!
The materials I used to study were as follows: Darril’s book and the online exam engine with the Performance based question simulator, the Sybex book – 5th ed. and the exam dump from Visual Cert. I will say that from time to time, I had to use the internet to look up things that I needed more information on however, Darril’s book is solid and the exam engine is great! I was hit with 5 performance based questions right away before I got to the multiple choice and I was surprised how straight forward they were. The test was 75 questions in 90 minutes and I was able to take my time still have 25 minutes to review marked answers. To anyone studying for this exam, I would say never use one source of material, it’s good to have variety and it keeps you more objective. Also, be sure you really understand networking because this exam is very network comprehensive and you will much more prepared if you understand the material.
Good luck guys!
Congrats on the pass Michael. Great score and good to know the resources helped you.
Good luck with your next adventure.
Hello Mr. Gibson,
I enjoyed your book on Security+ and I passed the Security+ exam because of reading your book. However, I noticed you have material Network+ but in the format for Kindle. Do you have your Network+ material in .pdf or word document format? If so, where can I access it?
Thanks,
sherri
